Greetings!
I'm Hailey, and I'm a lover of FOOD! I'm also a mother of three, and wife of a military man.
Who doesn't love food, right? Well, my obsession is linked to how food is so intricately tied to the culture that births the dish, and how that culture's language is used to describe it, as well as the history that is woven into it all.
I'm a Black woman, and product of middle class south Louisiana, married to a Venezuelan guy. We've lived in Louisiana, Key West (FL), Jacksonville (FL), and now Newport News (VA). It's been interesting to see the how each city's local foods, and restaurants help represent their locals.
Me and The Hubs have created three wonderful children to raise in a world where identity can be fluid, and complex. What better way to learn languages, cultures, regions, and celebrate what makes us all different than to do so over a titillating plate of food, and accompanying brew?!
I know, I know--the food blog experience is a dime a dozen. But with a little pushing from a few friends, AND considering we all gotta eat, I think we should be able to get a few good recipes out of this. And hopefully we'll even learn something new!
